Well, the Summer Season is coming to an end and it’s been another great year for meeting up with friends old and new.
The only sad thing is having to say “goodbye” to them when their holiday comes to an end, but then, we always look forward to their return next year.

Everyone enjoyed the entertainment this season, with a couple of favourite acts back from last year and some, all new to the bar.
We started the season with “Mandolin Mick and Chicago Jim”, back from last year, by popular demand. Mick and Jim are true musicians with Mick on the Mandolin and acoustic guitar and Jim a Spanish guitar.
They play a wide variety of music and are very popular, not only here at Bar La Orquidea, but all along the coast. An act not to miss!
Trish Dean was our next act. Trish was new to La Orquidea this year, and a great singer. Guests choose the songs they would like Trish to sing, from her ‘Song Menu’. Trish was full of fun and a great personality. The guests loved her.
Mario Ross was also a new act this year. A great singer and entertainer, Mario impersonates many singers really well and his costume changes – wigs, masks, outfits – made a great family entertainment night.

Another highlight of 2011 – and new to Bar La Orquidea – was Russ Williams. A top comedian, Russ was absolutely hilarious! We rarely have such great comedy talent here at the bar, Russ was excellent. And not just a comedian! A singer, too! Russ really was a big hit with everyone.
And, of course, we can’t forget the unforgettable Alexandra Avery. Back at Bar La Orquidea from last year, Alex was the hit of 2011! Her cabaret is so full of fun, with her impersonations of many popular artists, wearing different costumes and wigs.
Audience participation is a big part of Alex’s act and she easily gets everyone in the party mood by getting them up singing and dancing. Alex is an infectious character and you’ll find it difficult not to join in the fun!

So, over a two-week stay at La Orquidea Holiday Resort, guests were treated to four different and unique live entertainment acts! Bar La Orquidea really is the family entertainment heart of the Calahonda hills!
Other than our top entertainment acts, Bar La Orquidea always has something going on. Friday and Sunday nights are the, ever-popular, Karaoke Nights, Sundays see the super Quiz and Bingo Night and Saturday Night Poker is always a crowd-puller. New this year, our Lucky 13 card game was played most nights and Black Balls (like Golden Balls) proved to be a real winner!
