Córdoba is situated in Andalucia in Southern Spain and was established in ancient Roman times. Originally named Corduba by Claudius Marcellus, it became the Muslem capital of Islamic Spain.
The Romans built a large bridge across the river Guadalquivir River which has been renamed ‘el Puente Romano’ and still remains today. It is a beautiful and impressive landmark.
With two millennium of history the city is rich in culture and architecture. One of the most beautiful towns in Spain it is not surprising that many poets philosophers and artists were born and inspired here.

There are a whole variety of places to visit in this impressive city and many different races and religions have left there mark here Islamic, Jewish and Catholic.
The Alcazaba castle with its towers and Moorish baths, surrounded by wonderful greenery and luscious gardens, are well worth a visit. The castle was reformed in the baroque period and this is evident in the unquestionable grandeur of the structure. It has under-gone some renovation work and now is home to the Diocesan museum with its chapel and dinning area.
There are many recommendable restaurants in the city, and there are lots affordable places to eat in beautiful scenic spots. Plaza Corredera is popular with its numerous Bar / Restaurants and fabulous terraces.

Wander through the various gardens walk along the gorgeous narrow Andalucian streets to see quaint white washed houses with there colourful floral hanging baskets that line their passage ways.
