Huelva

Huelva is situated on the south west coast of the Andalucian district of Spain.

Probably most famous as the place from which Columbus planned his voyage, in the monastery of La Rabida, the port of Huelva benefited initially from its connection with the New World.

There is plenty to see and do here, with lots of historic buildings, churches and museums. There is also the aptly named week long, Fiesta Colombinas festival in early August.

Huevla Town Centre

The incredible national park of Huelva, Costa del Sol.

The centre of Huelva is an attractive bustling centre, a blend of plazas, gardens, and a fine choice of bars and restaurants. The coastal areas offer some fine golden beaches, pine woods and the nearby Donana National Park.

The huge Donana National Park, some 1,300 sq km, is a region of major importance for its ecology. The park is a major site for migrating birds as well as the permanent population. Eagles, flamingos and geese are amongst the many birds to be seen here with its varied wetland, scrub and coastal environs.

Entertainment in Huelva

The Museo de Huelva, with its great archaeological artifacts from Phoenician, megalithic, Tartessian, Greek and Moorish periods can be found on the Avenida Sundheim. The Museum has many Roman mining objects and boasts a fine art collection.

Calle Pablo Rada is lined with bars, many of which are open till late. In the Plaza de la Merced, you can find some superb Jazz Bar / Restaurants. Being a port Huelva, is famous for its traditional fresh and tasty seafood dishes, rape al vino blanco (MonkFish in White Wine) being one of the most popular dishes. The local wines of the region produced in the Condado area east of the city.
