Benalmadena, Close to the Resort

Benalmadena is a beautiful and diverse town situated in the heart of the Costa del Sol. Located in the Malaga province of Spain, it sits between Torremolinos and Fuengirola.

Popular with tourists from the U.K and Europe, Benalmadena is an ideal place for Holiday Makers and sight seers alike.

The Phoenicians came here with their maritime trading culture in the first millennium BC, but it was the Arab settlers who gave the place its name Banu Al Madena, which translates as son of the mines.

Benalmadena Pueblo

The old town has managed to retain its style, although modern construction now replaces the countryside that once surrounded it.

A traditional Andalucian Village found in the mountains, it is the home to the Archeological Museum, with many South American Archelogical treasures.

Also found in the Pueblo is the fabulous monument built in memory of Christopher Columbus, where you can admire the breathtaking views from the local 18th century church and its walled gardens.

Arroyo del la Miel

Translating as ’stream of honey’ was named because of the sugar & honey cane factory present in that area.

Below the mountains and Pueblo, Arroyo del la Miel is a thriving commercial town.

It’s fast moving expansion and exceptionally good train service runs along the Costa del Sol from Fuengirola to Malaga.

Benalmadena Costa

Like Puerto Banus, the Marina and many Beaches are commendated for their splendour. There are many Bar / Restaurants specialising in international cuisine, from Italian to Lebanese, all set in a delightful view of the Marina.

A superb place for Sailing, relaxation and watching the world go by. The Marina rates amongst the best in the world as it is several times winner of the ‘Best Marina in the World’ award.
With 1,100 moorings Benalmadena is one of the Costa del Sol’s busiest centres by day and night.

There are plenty of Hotels and the night life is second to none. From superstar DJ clubs to a quite meal, Benalmadena Costa caters for all tastes and age groups. You can find Salsa dancing, Jazz, cinemas and casinos. There is always somewhere to go and always something to do.

Places to Visit in Benalmadena

The wonderful Tivioli world in Benalmadena is an impressive theme park in the Arroy de la Miel, easy to access by bus, train or car. With beautiful lush Gardens and plentiful Bar / Restaurants, there are also free shows, after an initial entry fee. Built for both adults and children, this is a truly a family fun day out with super fun rides, all under the wonderful Costa del Sol Weather.

La Paloma park has wonderful fauna and flora, popular with ornithologists for the range of wild birds that make use of its beautiful lake. It is also home to the Benalmedena auditorium, which has fabulous shows every day of the week.

The Telecabina (cable car) climbs up from Benalmadena to the very pinnacle of the Malaga province. The Telecabina has some of the best views on the Costa del Sol. Apart from the Beaches, you can see all of the large towns, like Fuengirola, Torremolinos, all along the coast. Close by you will find the Ferria where you can go Shopping in the local markets, and the Selwo Marina. The Marina is an aquatic experience not to be missed, with penguins and Dolphins splashing away all day. For art and culture, drop by the the Bil Bil castle Art Gallery with its impressive exhibitions.
